WICHITA — Former Souther Coffey County standout and current Wichita State track and field athlete Aaron True was awarded the Most Outstanding Performance award for track and field Thursday, according to a release from the university.

The award is presented to student-athletes who recorded the highest-ranking marks on the NCAA performance list at The American Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Aaron True won the men’s American Athletic Conference javelin championship with a throw of 254’3”, breaking the American Athletic Conference meet record and defeating two former American champions, Memphis’ Micael Criticos (2016) and 2017 champion Seth Zuidema of UConn. Not only did True break the conference record, the junior set a personal best and broke the school record previously held by teammate Damien Odle (240’8”).
