GIRARD — Iola High couldn’t keep pace with Girard in Tuesday night’s first round sub state contest. The Trojans activated the running clock in the fourth quarter, ending the Fillies season with the 51-13 defeat.
“And the thing is, we just didn’t play as good as we could have,” Iola head coach Becky Carlson said. “You don’t like it to end like this, but we don’t want this to define our season because we probably won a lot more games than a lot of people thought we would.”
The Fillies started the night without the services of senior Kelsey Morrison, who was out with illness. Carlson admits not having the team’s senior catalyst didn’t do Iola any favors.
