IHS team camps, conditioning start next week

Iola High athletic camps and summer conditioning programs begin next Tuesday.
Football conditioning starts Tuesday at Iola High School with two morning sessions — 6-7:30 and 7:30-9. The conditioning program runs though July 29.
On the final day of conditioning, the football players will hold a “strongman” competition from 6 to 8 p.m. at the football practice field. It will be followed by a family fun night.
The IHS football team camp is July 11-15 at the football practice field in Riverside Park. Camp times are 6-8 p.m. with a family night on July 15.
Also the Mustang football team plans to compete in the SEK 7-on-7 League at Chanute on Thursday mornings. They have 7-on-7 tournaments at Topeka June 4 and Kansas State June 11.
Iola High’s volleyball team camp begins next Tuesday running through Friday. The camp is from 8:30 to 11 a.m. each day at the IHS gym.
Iola High basketball teams will hold team camps in June.
The Mustang team camp is June 6-9 from 8 to 10 a.m. at IHS gym. Contact Mustang head coach Bill Peeper at 228-2900.
Fillies’ head basketball coach Becky Carlson is opening her team camp this year to area high schools. She said along with Iola she has invited athletes from Marmaton Valley, Humboldt and Yates Center high schools.
The Fillies team camp is June 10, 17, 24, July 1, July 8 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. each day at the IHS gym. It is open to students, grades 9-12, for $15. Registration is due Wednesday.

Iola High wrestling team camp is July 5-8. It will go from 6 to 8 p.m. each day at the high school gym.
Also beginning June 8 is an open mat night for all wrestlers — high school, middle school and Allen County Kids Wrestling Club. It will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the IHS gym.
