High School Track and Field: Iola Mustangs and Fillies
Iola track and field competed at Osawatomie Thursday. The Fillies finished second as a team and the Mustangs finished fourth. The Fillies beat all three of the Pioneer League school in attendance (Anderson County, Burlington and Osawatomie) and were without junior Kassy Shelby who has been a solid force and points-getter for Iola so far this season.
Sophomore Elysia Kunkler had a clean sweep of her three events, finishing first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.60 seconds, which was the fastest fully automated timed race she has run in an Iola uniform.
She also finished first in the 100-meter dash (13.08) and first in the long jump (169).
