High School Track and Field: Iola Mustangs and Fillies
The Iola track and field teams put in solid performances at the Fredonia Relays on Friday. Out of 21 teams, the Fillies finished third overall despite a depleted roster and the Mustangs finished eighth.
Junior Ellie Carson earned her first top-finish in the high hurdles with a time of 16.91. Carson also finished second in the 300-meter hurdles (54.17).
Sophomore Elysia Kunkler continued her dominance in the 100-meter dash, finishing first with a time of 12.98. She also finished second in the long jump with a distance of 163.5 and was disqualified after a false start in the high hurdles.
