MANHATTAN — Standing between Humboldt High’s Cubs and a state tournament trophy were the Salina Sacred Heart High Knights. Deja vu for Humboldt High baseball history fans.
Two years ago the Cubs and Knights squared off in the Kansas Class 2A third-place contest. Humboldt won 6-2.
So on Saturday, the Cubs bounced back from their only defeat of the entire 2012 season. They put the 5-1 semifinal loss to Frontenac High Raiders behind them and set their sights on the Kansas Class 3A State Baseball Tournament’s third-place trophy.
