COLONY — The highlight of the Lancer girls’ 43-29 win over the Chetopa Hornets occurred in the game’s final seconds when Crest freshman Vivian Noah went to the foul line to shoot two.

Noah isn’t the best player on the team. In fact, most games she rarely plays. She hasn’t scored a point all year. But if a team can be said to have a beating heart, she’s it.

After the Chetopa foul, when it became clear that Noah was heading to the line with a chance at her first high-school bucket, the crowd erupted. Her teammates shouted encouragements. Her coach cheered.
