The Intrepid Readers book discussion group meets at 2 p.m. Dec. 6. The book selection is Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach. For 2,000 years, cadavers some willingly, some unwittingly have been involved in sciences boldest strides and weirdest undertakings. A serious science writer with a quirky sense of humor, Roach visits the good deeds of cadavers over the centuries.
A Message of Hope is offered at 3 p.m. Dec. 8. Questions to be addressed include What is sexual abuse? Who is affected? How can you help? How can you get help? Sexual assault does not happen only to women. This is the first in a monthly series of five programs on sexual abuse. Licensed professionals will be on hand for attendees comfort and security. This program will be held in the Flewharty-Powell Annex to Iola Public Library (211 East St.).
