County stunned by wind farm setback
ERIE Neosho County Commissioners werent happy with plans to require a 1,000- foot setback between property lines and the base of wind turbines for a planned wind energy project, according to the Chanute Tribune. The energy company previously offered a setback of 1,425 feet from houses of non-participating residents and a setback of 1,200 feet from homes of landowners who signed leases. Some opponents sought a one-mile setback from the property line. Apex plans between 100 to 130 generators on about 41,000 acres, with construction to begin in 2019.
